Non Artist - Art Lover (HOW ART CHANGED MY LIFE)

Being a person who didn’t know art, Pranjal Arts gave me an opportunity to dive into colours, artists and a whole new world. I never believed art could help me in any way. I never even thought paintings had a hundred different meanings. I wasn’t familiar with Indian culture but Pranjal Arts let me explore the art’s field.

I’ve always been a person who thinks that if I can’t draw a face, I don’t know art, but art has shown me that if you don’t know how to draw a face, you can always draw something else. Art is subjective and that’s what makes it so interesting. A normal painting that I used to see is now speaking to me. I can feel every colour and let it take control of my moods. Exploring art makes me happy. Whenever I find out new facts about art, I become ecstatic. You may wonder why I’m telling you all this but there is a message in this, art is everywhere.

When I joined Pranjal Arts, I started writing blogs about art but I didn’t know anything about it. Now, as I leave, I can confidently say that I know a lot about it. Painters like Van Gogh, Rembrandt, M.F. Hussain, Amrita Sher-Gil speak to me, through their paintings of course! Their paintings are so powerful, thought-provoking and deep. I have learnt that a painting with meaning is due to the life of the painter.

Did you know Vincent Van Gogh hallucinated and was also diagnosed with depression? He was a sad painter yet his paintings are the polar opposite. The vibrant Starry Night is filled with colours and beauty. Van Gogh wanted his life to be like his paintings, colourful. His paintings reflected the life he wanted. Years after his death, he gained recognition for his vision and paintings. Art takes time and one characteristic that artists should have is patience. Art has changed my life and it can change yours too.

Reading about art, reading about how a mixture of odd colours, a stroke of paint across a painting, an invisible line that divides the painting can make you feel a certain way. Life is all about meaning and art has given us an easy and convenient way to express it.  If you have been running away from art your whole life under the pretext that you cannot paint to save your life, I hope you feel motivated and inspired through this personal account from a fellow non artist - art lover.. We all need art and art needs us.
